Holy shit, the Palestinians are MAD.

"Armed militants angered by a cartoon drawing of the Prophet Muhammad published in European newspapers surrounded EU offices in Gaza on Thursday and threatened to kidnap foreigners as outrage over the caricatures spread across the Islamic world."
To quote the article, which is more important in Western society: freedom of expression, or respect of beliefs?
[I think that freedom of expression is more important, but Respect is maybe just as important, if not equally. To respect a person's beliefs though, one needs to recognize genuine respect for that person's identity, being and existence. I mean, that's where their beliefs stem from, reasonably. We should be honest, and free to express honesty, if we want to learn from each other, but, to respect someone means to refrain from judging their choices (to say, this is "good", this is "bad"). To call someone destructive and uneducated is rational, but to say it's disgusting and inferior is disrespectful.]
So saying, I don't think the cartoon is disrespectful (if it portrays the Prophet Muhammed with a turban shaped like a bomb) because it expresses the cartoonist's beliefs that too many Muslims are resorting to violence, but it IS disrespectful if it mocks Muslims and their beliefs as jokes. And Denmark is being disrespectful if their people laugh and agree.
But i ALSO think that the Palestinians are going buck-mad, and they need to simmer down and maybe talk this over a nice cup of coffee. They're not really helping anyone by raising all hell and upping their fire levels, come on now. They want all four countries to apologize for the cartoon, but one guy drew it and one guy published it, isn't that extreme? And this cartoon being published in September? That's five months ago, that's quite a while.
Why doesn't Europe just say sorry? What is the big deal about apology and a pleasant conversation? Countries are acting like kindergarteners. EXCEPT PALESTINIAN GUNMEN WILL START KILLING PEOPLE IF YOU DONT APOLOGIZE BY TONIGHT. Crazy!
This one picture of a Muslims in Denmark, gathering to pray, this one touched me more than the ones of screaming, livid Muslims in Palestine. There are so few of them, quiet, and just praying calmly in a public terrace. The angry ones are home, and angry amongst angry buddies. I wonder how these guys feel. I wonder how Saba feels about this. How crazy is it to move from Palestine to Rhode Island School of Design for an Architecture major? Kind of crazy!
